Video game publisher Square Enix has reconsidered its decision to charge gamers for Hitman: Absolution‘s online gaming component.
It was going to make users buy an online gaming pass to play but has now changed its mind.
American gamers can access the online mode automatically in the game’s main menu while the rest of the world can use a code packed in with the first shipment of the game to unlock it for free.
Square Enix said: “We’d actually planned to have this mode accessible via a code in the game’s box, but we really want to make it available to anybody that plays the game — so we want to take a new approach.”
Hitman: Absolution is out this week for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
