Recently a new fresh launcher was released and it is called ASAP Launcher. It is developed by Tim Clark and the current version is v1.16 as if the time of this writing. What is special about it is the fact it is unique in comparison to the rest of the launchers currently available. I have used different launchers such as Google Now and Nova Launcher and I would put ASAP launcher right in-between the two as it combines the best of the above two in a new, elegant and good looking launcher. What I like about the launcher is its simplicity. Swiping left/right brings you through different screens such as “Contacts”, “Weather”, “Agenda”, “Todo” lists and of course your main screen.
The launcher does not come with the traditional application drawer that you know but instead it offers a 3×5 list of the most used apps and it tries to arrange them for you. You can open the drawer either by swiping up or pressing on your “Home” button. What if you want to open an app that is not there? All you have to do is swipe from the most left side of the screen to open a full list of all of your apps and search for the one you desire. I find this drawer very useful because I don’t have to spend time looking for a specific app in a drawer full of many apps say 100 or more.
Another useful feature of the app is a list of useful shortcuts such as “Airplane mode”, “Location services”, “Flashlight” and more. To access those you can swipe from the most right edge of your home screen.
The launcher itself is free to download but if you want to support the development and get a couple of premium features such as “Themes”, applying custom icon packs, “Unread counts” which will show you the number of unread messages or miss calls you would want to spend about a £1. Personally, I liked the launcher so much that I went ahead and bought the premium features in the first 20 minutes of installing the app. Some will say that it is a bit much for a newly released app but I think it is definitely well-spent money and the app will become even better in the future. Go ahead and try the launcher today, it’s FREE.
